How to Qualify a Whitefly Service Provider

Rugose Spiraling Whitefly (RSW) is a nuisance pest that produces “honeydew,” a sugary substance that can stick to your house, car, or patio and make a real sticky mess. Leaves or fronds may have excessive and unattractive dark sooty mold that grows on the honeydew. Leaf drop may occur in some species of trees and plants.

Arborjet recommends a trunk injection by a professional with IMA-jet to combat Rugose Spiraling Whitefly.  IMA-jet works quickly throughout the tree's vascular system to deliver results within 3-4 days of treatment. It's well-known as the market leader in whitefly treatments. Some service providers will claim to be using IMA-jet and charge you as if they are using it, but may be using another product or a home-made "brew" that is not likely to be registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and have the same efficacy as IMA-jet.

Questions to ask a service provider

Be sure you're receiving the treatment for which you're paying by asking a service provider the following questions:

  1. Is the service provider Arborjet trained?
  2. If Arborjet trained…where were they trained?
  3. What product will they be using? (should respond with IMA-jet)
  4. Can I have a copy of the label of the product you will be using? (The Service Provider needs to have copies of label and MSDS available upon request.)
  5. How much product will be applied to each tree/palm?
  6. Can I watch the injection procedure?
  7. What should I expect after treatment?

If you have further questions about whether or not the service provider has been trained and has purchased IMA-jet, you can call Arborjet directly at 781-935-9070 to verify.
